When it comes to building a PC, one of the critical factors that often takes centre stage is GPU clearance. The Corsair D, a popular mid-tower case, has garnered attention from 4000d max gpu length enthusiasts for its sleek design and versatile features. But just how well does it accommodate various graphics cards?

The D Airflow offers a no-frills exterior design that could be described as elegant in its simplicity. It offers clean lines, a matte finish, dark tempered glass side panel, and not an RGB in sight. Oh, and that fully ventilated front panel since this is the Airflow version. This front panel is steel with triangular openings throughout, and is mounted with metal tabs for easy removal. There is a removable screen filter for the front intake as well. The side panel on the component side is dark tempered glass, and both side panels are secured with a combination of methods — the panels snap in place, and are secured by captive thumbscrews. The rest of the case is conventional mid-tower, though Corsair adds a pair of vertical expansion slots.

Companies like Phanteks and Cooler Master have sometimes handled situations like this by sending us multiple front panels, but Corsair is fighting hard to eliminate our last few square feet of storage space--we have all three. The D samples we were sent are both white, but they come in black as well. Almost every part of the case is painted white or gray, including the borders of the glass panel, the rear PCIe slot covers, and all the externally-visible rivets on the rear panel. The glass is tinted for the black version and untinted for the white, with white masking around the border. We have mixed feelings about the yellow accents scattered throughout the case, but they are at least consistent: yellow plastic washers under various thumbscrews, a yellow pull-tab on the top filter, and yellow USB type-A port on the front panel. A triangular motif is also present throughout the entire case, most impressively in the top filter, which has tiny triangular holes rather than the standard hexagonal ones. There was one minor fit-and-finish flaw in our review sample, but it nearly broke one of the fans we use for testing. Of the three cases we received, only one of them had this issue. Either way, the point stands: the brackets are delicate. The largest CLC the case can truly support is a single mm unit at the top.

You can get some extra space if you mount the GPU vertically as the vertical mounted ports are about 10mm more towards the rear than the regular ports, but with a GPU that big it might be too close to the side panel glass. I would advice that you look at our new D case which might suit your parts better as it is a bit bigger than the D and has room for the AIO in the top, as well as the side and front. By tzerony September 8, in Build Hardware. I know the max. However, I am trying to understand my limit for a RTX air cooled version. Since the FE is not available in my area these are my options:. Is the yellow line where the gpu will "start"? You can install GPU up to mm in length. For your AIO, I believe radiator is 38mm and fan is 25mm. Thats great news.

You might want to get in line, because Corsair is going to sell a lot of these. Why you can trust Tom's Hardware Our expert reviewers spend hours testing and comparing products and services so you can choose the best for you. Find out more about how we test. Sometimes I like taking a step into the past, and these were hugely popular cases at the time. I know lots of people that had them — for good reason. The X RGB comes with three fans behind a tempered glass panel at the front of the chassis. The D will come with two non-RGB fans, with the front either covered with a solid metal slab or a meshed front panel on the D Airflow. Other than those differences, the cases are all identical to one another.

Toggle Menu Close. GPU temperatures averaged 56 degrees for the non-Airflow and 53 degrees for the Airflow. Let me break it down for you in simple terms. Pholostan on October 22, at am. Corsair HP Posted January 26, Using one made a noticeable difference in keeping my graphics card level and prevented any sag over time. Ideally, there would be just one thumbscrew in an easily-accessible location. Neither PC Perspective nor any of its staff were paid or compensated in any way by Corsair for this review. Posted January 25, edited. It's gonna be snug! Looks like a decent case, shame about the anemic front panel though. To avoid any complications, I closely reviewed the motherboard manual to ensure that my GPU would be compatible with the available PCIe slots. This is an important spec to keep in mind. Vertical GPU mounting resulted in a 59 Celsius above ambient average for the GPU, with peak non-delta temperatures at 83 degrees, the temperature at which the GPU attempts to maintain thermal targets by dropping clocks.

The D Airflow offers a no-frills exterior design that could be described as elegant in its simplicity.

The D AIRFLOW would be my pick of the new series because of the ventilated front panel, and I am very impressed with the level of quality and overall performance given the price tag. However these temps are targeted by the GPU, so average clock speeds will be a better determination of performance here more on this in a moment. Vertically mounting the GPU in the Airflow case hurt CPU thermal performance slightly, raising the average one degree over baseline to 51 degrees. This is a 3-pin voltage-controlled fan. The TD is a case that was built around its mm front intake fans to an even greater degree than the D, and our standardized fan test uses two mm intakes that were partially wasted on it. If the user only plans to use a small radiator or just a CPU heatsink with the top ventilation grille covered, the hot air can be expelled out through the rear exhaust grille on the back panel. But just how well does it accommodate various graphics cards? To summarize, this case is relatively short in height and wide. Overheating can cause performance issues and, in some cases, system instability or crashes. Users do not need to install the required risers according to the size of motherboard that will be used. Not only is it designed to shelter the power supply, the chamber is also the place for you to put up to two 3. Go to topic listing.
