Two people who were passengers in separate cars involved in a three-vehicle collision on the A69 have died. The passengers of the Mazda and the Skoda, an year-old man and a year-old woman, died at the scene. Two more people died in a second multi-vehicle crash on one of the North East's main roads on Thursday as snow and icy weather caused chaos across the region. The Skoda is then understood to have collided with a black Land Rover Discovery that was travelling eastbound. Emergency services attended where sadly a year-old female passenger from the Skoda, and an year-old male passenger from the Mazda, had suffered life-threatening injuries. Despite the best efforts of medical staff, the man and woman sadly passed away at the scene. Their next of kin has been informed and they are currently being supported by specially trained officers at this difficult time.

A spokesperson for the police said the Mazda was travelling eastbound when it collided with the Skoda, which was heading westbound. The force has urged anyone with information or dashcam footage to contact officers, a69 crash today.
