Just had our stove installed so reluctantly bought a net of firewood from the petrol station to try it out. Measured on freshly split pieces. Wondering if the tree was dead before felling which could account for dryness? Coincidentally I went down to my log pile this morning with a cup of coffee, an axe and my moisture meter. If you want to test your meter you can do a series of experiments using a kitchen scale and an oven at 60dgrees ish. Will dig out the instructions as it has a calibration thing in the cap a resistor I think! Happy days if it turns out my wood was seasoned before felling! I also bought a net of firewood from the petrol station. It was absolute crap and really struggled to burn. Spooky, if you are after cheap greenwood and happy to chop and saw it yourself, it might be worth giving your local council a call, some offload recently cut wood at very reasonable prices. I bought one 3 years ago primarily to check the moisture content of firewood, it's still working on the original batteries. Well recommended. If you don't swear when you're driving, you're not paying attention! I like children but can't eat a whole one. If you can't say something nice, don't say anything! Don't call me an idiot, I would take it as a compliment. Not all my ducks are in a row, some are missing and I think one is a pigeon. I know my place, under my wife's thumb! I've got an earlier verson which is OK but you really need a "hold reading" facility which mine hasn't got. If you are trying to measure in cupboards or other awkward places then it's not easy to read the meter whilst taking a measurement unless you can freeze and hold the reading and check it when you've taken the meter out.
