They were heading out for lunch when the car toppled over a bridge, fell into a shallow river on their Littlebourne property, and flipped upside down. Following the fatal crash on Friday, the bank of the river has now been adorned with fresh flowers in their honour. The colourful bunches are a tribute to the lives lost. The passengers were her year-old, who was born Richard but went by David, had Dementia and a carer, who survived. The carer was able to climb out of the back window and raise alarm that the incident had taken place. The Daily Mail reports that Anne was recently passed fit to drive. After the horrific accident, Phil, 53, took to social media with a sweet photo of his late parents to publicly mourn the loss.

TV presenter Phil Spencer's parents died as a result of an accident after their car overturned in a river, a coroner has concluded. Anne Spencer died after the car she was driving tipped over the edge of a bridge and plunged into the Nailbourne River in Littlebourne, Kent. She was travelling with her husband Richard, who also died. In Maidstone, coroner Sarah Clarke said: "These circumstances are some of the most tragic I have heard. Mr Spencer, 89, known as David, and Ms Spencer, 82, were chatting as they drove to a family lunch when the car "veered very slightly" on 18 August, the coroner said. The couple, who were farmers, were submerged in about three feet of water and were pronounced dead at Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother Hospital in Margate. Their carer, who was in the back of the car, escaped through a window. A police report read at the inquest said it was a "most tragic incident" and that a momentary lapse in concentration had caused the car to slip, despite Ms Spencer being familiar with the road. The report said the bridge was primarily used as access for those residing and working on the farm, where Mr and Ms Spencer had lived and worked their whole adult lives.

His father Richard, known to friends and family as David, 89, and mother Anne, 82, were pulled from the vehicle after it veered off their access road and went into a river on the farm, but they sadly could not be saved. Channel 4 property show co-host Kirstie Allsopp paid tribute to the parents of her close friend Phil, 53, and said it was a 'great source of solace' to him that they were together as they passed away, The Sun reports. Richard and Anne were reportedly leaving their farm to travel to a local pub for lunch on Friday when their car drifted into a shallow river, which is a tributary which flows through the family farm in Littlebourne, near Canterbury, Kent. The fire service and police officers were called to the scene and an air ambulance also flew to the farm. Richard and Anne were pulled from the car and taken to hospital, but he was pronounced dead at the scene and she died shortly afterwards. Another woman, in her 60s, was also in the car but suffered only minor injuries.
