An apartment is a multi-purpose residential lot , allowing multiple households to reside in the same building. Apartments are arguably a semi-communal residential lot. In The Sims 2: University and The Sims 2: Bon Voyage , dormitories and hotels serve a similar purpose, but neither of these enable multiple households to stay at the same lot simultaneously. Neither one allows the player to have multiple households residing on the same lot. A penthouse allows Sims to live in a designated space within a shell building, while an apartment merely allows Sims to have unselectable roommates.
