Depending on the artifact you discover it will require different materials to restore it. When you're attempting to restore an artifact you will need to be at a repair station one is at every major dig-site. You see it here in the image above; Requirements - Restoration Station. You can also see the materials needed, if you do not have enough you either need to trade for more or dig it up yourself!
