I want to update to 1. So I try to follow the instuction on the install. I think it has to do with transfering code from directory to another. In short, I failed to recompile Aseprite. So after failing to recompile Aseprite I try to look for information on the internet about recompiling Aseprite but the information too vague for me to understand.

The source code is available because it was already available before I started doing a business from it, so it was a nice thing to keep. People that cannot afford the program will pirate it anyway, so having the source code is a way to access the program without viruses with a little of effort. There are other reasons I would prefer to create closed source apps in the future, but this is not the case. I will say this: we are living with the income generated by Aseprite, this is no joke. It is an open source software dedicated for pixel art. You can also buy it from their website aseprite. Since it is an open source software we can also download the code and compile it for ourselves. Before doing that, you need to read their license agreement and abide by it. They have a perfectly fine guide about compiling their software right here, but I failed in my first try, I retried it times. So if someone is stuck out there this post can help you and I can use it as a reference on a later date.

This is more of like a convenience way to get the sources working. I have build aseprite using both libraries - Allegro and Skia. My personal opinions were Allegro are faster, and consumes lower disk space but the Skia build seems to operate better. So from the developers point of view, moving forward, Skia is better to use. If your an artist or a game designer, this is of least concern to you. Download whichever binary you want. We recommend the Skia build. Just download the allegro, or skia folder, run the aseprite.
