Hours: Daily from 9am to 2pm Menu: bearandjoey. On the late Sunday morning when Don and I arrived there for a bite, it was busy! It seems that rain or shine, patrons will flock here for a warm meal. Sure, we got great tasting snacks to go. The maple sweet thick bacon in my meal was good sign, but what I ate got cold fast. Thankfully I got nice frothy matcha in a cup to keep me warm while waiting for my order. To say they offer other ethnic drinks is a plus, since I love my green tea. DK: I enjoy a saucy breakfast sandwich, saucier than what Bear and Joey offers. Overall it was a good sandwich on a nice bun an eye-catching beet number, I assume from Crust Bakery. Are there better, cheaper breakfast sandwiches in town? Oh absolutely. They might even be as instagrammable!

It was a bit of a kick in the teeth. Officially open since early May, Bear and Joey Cafe, where I meet owner Peter to chat life and style, is a beautiful space. Peter grew up in Sydney, Australia more specifically, in the northern beaches , where he met his now wife who is originally from Vancouver Island. I studied business and property and worked in residential sales, commercial property management, as well as for a property developer. But I had an awakening, and realized that hospitality is my true passion. So we started putting the wheels in motion to move here. Australian cafe culture is coffee every morning and a simple breakfast grab-and-go, so you can eat off our menu many times a week and feel good about it.

We came here for coffee and a bite to eat one sunny Friday morning. The espresso-based drinks are delicious and the Queensland sandwich was HUGE and well worth the price paid. Tons of BF ham, mango chutney, house made mustard Super friendly staff as well. We are also looking forward to the COVID restrictions being lifted so we can enjoy a full restaurant!

If this place was in Vancouver, I imagine it might take us a while to get a reservation.
