Fire sounds like it's a lot better then Arcane now a days, but with MoP Frost is the way to go. But personaly having a level 85 mage I am always going to stick with fire untill its nerfed till it's un-viable. Then I will take my chances with Frost. I will never, ever go arcane. But you can also go a Shadow Priest. Personally I will just go with a mage.

The race you pick for your character will vary not only by the secondary stat boost it provides, but its racial abilities might be more in line with certain types of content.
