Also, from the search and bobtheoilguy. As an FYI, the Mobil 1 M is the stock-size replacement, and the M is like twice the size taller and otherwise identical. The Mobil filters are of very high quality as well. I did hard miles on Mobil 1 10W in 1 month and the oil analysis afterwards showed the oil still had active additive and that I could extend my oil change interval. Edit: A bigger filter is not necessarily a better filter.

Let's hear from all the naysayers and bypass valve worriers To me this proves that the filter flows well enough to not open the 13 psi bypass, yet is very efficient at filtering out contaminants and this was with cheap Costco oil. I haven't done any sort of testing so this is all pretty much my own opinion. I watched a video with them cutting open the Subaru filter - looks like the Fram. I use them on our 14 Forester that now has K miles on it and on our 15 Outback that has 60K on it. Stick with the Subaru filters and don't over think this.
