After I was born we moved to Jerusalem when I was age 3 or so, where we went over the house of some of my parents' big planet comics, Namaan and Helen Assad, big planet comics. Even better is the Great service, great selection. You can flip through all the comics, and it has a lot of graphic novels.
And we need to make a lot of money in profit above that to pay salaries and rent the Washington DC area is not good big planet comics rent prices. A ton of comic book stores closed over the last year, partly due to terrible offerings from the large mainstream weekly comic book publishers DC and Marvel usuallyand I think a lot of stores just couldn't adjust to that fast enough, or didn't want, big planet comics.

Big Planet Comics founder, Joel Pollack, is a life-long Washingtonian and a life-long comics enthusiast. When I was 8, I was sick at home. That comic book went so far beyond anything the TV show offered, I was instantly hooked. Sadly, my mother passed away the following year and comics became my refuge from grief. One of my aunts, a kind woman named Kitty Goldberg, lived in Manhattan, very near Broadway and 79th. Since we rode the subway frequently, we passed a newsstand that stocked a wide array of comics. Aunt Kitty would always buy me a few, further encouraging my passion. You see, my aunt had a close friend who worked at the offices of DC Comics. Of all the names in the history of comics and DC Comics in particular, the name of Ira Schnapp may be the most overlooked. He was a designer and his touch on the DC style is incalculable.
