THE owners of a new Wirral restaurant are 'overwhelmed' by the public's response to the venue, after more than 1, people came through its doors in the first 10 days since its launch. Situated on Banks Road, the Iberian eaterie serves homemade food inspired by traditional Portuguese and Spanish cuisine, including charcoal chicken which celebrates authentic Algarvian cooking techniques and flavour using a traditional Frango Piri-Piri from its origin in Guia, Albufeira. For Steven and Josh who run the award-winning BoBo wine bar and tasca on Liverpool's Castle Street, the West Kirby restaurant is their first together having previously helped open many well-known venues across the city region. Steven said: "Since receiving the keys, the reaction to the restaurant has been so positive and, since opening almost overwhelming. In opening BoBo, Steven and Josh have created 16 jobs, almost all of which have been filled by people from the immediate area. BoBo is also sourcing its seafood, ice cream and flowers from within West Kirby, supplied by The Seafood Shack, The Ice Cream Shop and Eden Floral Design, while their fresh produce comes from other exceptional suppliers from across the city region.
Alongside the traditional Spanish tortilla, batatas bravas, and frittas, the menu features sticky sherry Chicken Marbella cooked in Pedro Ximinez sherry with roast dates, and much more. The minutes of fun starts at the time of the booking. Guests are asked to order their drink of choice and two tapas plates per person from the selection. Once the drink is finished guests are welcome to order as many as they wish for the duration of their slot. After the hour and a half is up, any further drinks or food ordered will be charged at normal price. The new Sunday offer is not the only change since BoBo opened in August. The menu now features more vegetarian dishes; more fish dishes including barbeque Galician style scallops, grilled sea bass and charcoal mackerel; and more meat dishes including braised pork cheeks and crispy shredded Seville duck. Our menus will continue to change throughout the year to ensure that we keep them fresh and interesting and to be able to use as much fresh local produce that we can, depending on the season.

BoBo in West Kirby has gone down a storm with local people since it opened last month, with more than 1, people going through the doors in the first 10 days. We visited on a Friday night, and it was good to see it was buzzing. Most tables were occupied and there was a lively, but not too noisy, vibe about the place. Our server patiently explained the menu options and gave us some guidance as to the number of dishes we should order, as we were keen to leave enough room for dessert. We started with the croquetas, which were really tasty — but be warned they are not very big and you only get two in a serving. They were accompanied by the Spanish fried chicken covered in Moorish spices with lime chilli butter, which gave them a bit of a kick, and the bacalhau salt cod fritters, which were absolutely delicious. On to the mains, and I had ordered the half chicken with lemon and garlic flavour, which comes with fries. It was a very generous portion, and I could not finish it. My wife opted for the house burger which she really enjoyed.
