Now, six finalists take to the stage in their bid to win over the judges and be crowned the BBC New Comedian of The Grand Final is a culmination of six regional heats filmed across the UK. The judges have a tough job picking a winner from a diverse range of cutting-edge comics. The awards are hosted by award-winning stand-up, writer and actor Rosie Jones. Head judge Josh Pugh takes his place for the final time and is joined by fellow stand-ups Zoe Lyons and Darren Harriot.

The National Comedy Awards known as the British Comedy Awards from to is an annual awards ceremony in the United Kingdom , celebrating notable comedians and entertainment performances of the previous year. Sex Education leads the shortlist with five nods; whilst Ghosts has four nominations. The new awards, run by Channel 4 in aid of Stand Up To Cancer, are voted for by the public and "honour both emerging and established British comedy talent". The nominees are derived from the votes from the public's choices from the longlist, which was available to vote on in October. Voting on the shortlist is now active at thenationalcomedyawards. The winners will be announced at "a glitzy ceremony" at the Camden Roundhouse in London on December 15th, with the ceremony then airing on Channel 4.
