The access road to Motherwell Rail Station off Hamilton Road roundabout that serves the taxi rank and drop-off facility will be closed from 7am to 6pm on Thursday 29 February to allow work to be carried out safely. During the closure, the taxi rank will relocate to High Road. If you are looking to drop-off at the station, we recommend you use Hope Street car park. Disabled parking will also not be available with the closest bays being in Hope Street car park. Advanced signing will be in place, along with posters showing where the taxi rank is during the closure. Every effort will be made to minimise disruption to users of the rail station while these works take place. Improving bus and taxi facilities We have improved the bus and taxi facilities at Muir Street with City Deal funding. New and wider footways, new street furniture and trees have also been provided. We appointed Balfour Beatty to carry out the work which was completed in June The work was coordinated with what they were also doing at Motherwell Rail Station to reduce disruption to local businesses and residents. By working with ScotRail as they have upgraded Motherwell Rail Station, we have ensured the projects complement each other and have made the most of the available funding.

Operator First Bus has said it is withdrawing all of its night-time services across Glasgow. First Glasgow said the decision had been taken because buses were regularly operating with as few as 14 passengers per hour. The operator said that the late-night services, which were reintroduced a year ago, would stop on 31 July. The change will impact 11 routes that operate across the city in the early hours of Saturday and Sunday mornings. Graeme Macfarlan, commercial director at First Bus Scotland, said passenger numbers showed there was "not enough appetite in Glasgow" for services to operate into the early hours.
