After amassing less than subscribers, Caddy tried game reviewing and uploaded his first video game review, which covered the PlayStation 1 game Rascal Racers, in May The video was made originally as an 'audition tape' for NormalBoots when they were still recruiting creators. Despite Caddy being rejected, from here his channel grew in popularity and he began making gaming videos full time and developed several unique troupes to his videos; such as his iconic opening theme tune and him rating the games he reviews by either "slaughtering" them for games he dislikes or "salvaging" them for games he likes. In February , Caddy made major changes to his upload schedule, which included him discontinuing most of his side shows aside from 'Current Quickies', and The Caddicarus Show being now uploaded weekly on a Sunday. In January , Caddy discontinued 'Current Quickies', since he had grown tired of the formula, and launched a new show simply called 'Caddy', which covers new games, drum covers and various other gaming topics. In August , Caddy announced that 'The Caddicarus Show' would undergo further changes, such as getting moved to Saturday for no disclosed reason and the removal of the 'Slaughter or Salvage' verdict. Jim Caddick , better known online as Caddicarus , is a British YouTuber who typically specializes in retro game reviews. He has been an active user since , and he now currently uploads every few months or so. In his first-ever game review, he acknowledges that game reviews weren't exactly a new thing at the time, citing people like The Angry Video Game Nerd , Irate Gamer, and JonTron as examples of people who did that kind of video. However, Caddick wanted to differentiate himself from those users by specializing mainly in reviewing games on the mh:awesomegames:PlayStation , which he calls his childhood console. These days, Caddick is commonly referred to as "The PS1 guy". Though openly admitting that his favorite gaming platform is the PlayStation line, he's not a PlayStation fanboy in any way and has consoles from Nintendo and mh:awesomegames:Microsoft.
