It was a very emotional day in Gartocharn on the 6th of June…After 32 years of trading firstly as the hugely popular Hungry Monk and for the last 11 years as The 5 star accredited House Of Darrach we have finally closed our doors to the public. Their continued success has meant an ever increasing team of maintenance and office staff all working very hard behind the scenes. The closure of the House of Darrach to the public has enabled us to give those teams some much needed new offices, storage space and parking for maintenance vehicles at Gartocharn. We are also now able to finally realise a longed-for dream of utilising the space for a long awaited staff training academy and central kitchen which will hopefully enable us to provide a more consistent service to our customers at all of our venues. As we begin a new chapter at Gartocharn, we would like to thank all the hard working staff who all contributed to the success of both the Hungry Monk and the House of Darrach over the years and in particular, we would like to thank all our customers past and present, for your continued support. We look forward to seeing all of you at one of our restaurants across the central belt and perhaps at a new restaurant coming near you. Watch this space…. With many thanks The Cawley Family. My wife had booked this evening for her and a friend. Mid week our son was rushed to Hospital in Dundee and given his condition Sunday never looked probable. Money is not the issue here but rather than lose the deposit she hoped a family member may take up the booking, however not to be! Given the week we have had and our son still seriously ill going out for dinner was not a priority and we were going to let it go but my wife also had a gift voucher and at the last minute we decided to go, she really needed the break but a bad decision unfortunately, the chicken in both our meals was overcooked, least of our worries. How inflexible is that or remotely customer friendly? We forfeited the balance as we decided we will not be back at anything Cawley related, friends and relations will likewise be informed.. Cawley has their terms and conditions, I have my principles which include fairness, consideration, compassion, discretion etc.

  1. It is a pity, that now I can not express - I hurry up on job. I will be released - I will necessarily express the opinion.
