The initial gap between championships was variable, but since they have been awarded every two years. The current champion is Poland , which won its second title at the tournament. The first tournament was held in with participation of six national teams. Being only participant from Eastern Europe , Czechoslovakia captured gold. The teams from Eastern Europe dominated at the tournament for next four decades.

Finland has joined the already confirmed co-organisers of the CEV EuroVolley Men — Bulgaria and Romania — to help deliver the pool stage of the competition that will be crowning the next European champions. Finland already did so in and EuroVolley will return to the city of Tampere in about two and a half years. Even though the edition did take place pretty much amidst the many constraints brought about by the coronavirus pandemic, still it was such a resounding success that the Nordic country has decided to go for a repeat. Finland has become a force to reckon with ever since and therefore it does not come as a surprise that the Finnish Volleyball Federation and their local partners in Tampere have decided to bring back EuroVolley and the excitement that goes with it. I am sure that hosting the event on home soil will provide an additional motivation for elite and up-and-coming players willing to chase further glory for Finnish Volleyball. It is an honour for the city of Tampere to host prestigious competitions in an internationally respected sport.

The do-or-die second leg of the semifinals is going to determine all the SuperFinalists, the first spot in Europe's most prestigious club competition final was booked by Vero Volley Milano, who prevailed over Fenerbahce Opet Istanbul in the Golden Set to reach the SuperFinals for the first time in the club's history.
