Finding something the whole family can watch during the holidays is a perennial challenge. Now, a few generations later, they live together in a magical house and each member develops their own talent, like the ability to control the weather, shapeshift into other people, and talk to animals. Each bedroom is magically tailored to the relative and their magical gift. All except for one, Mirabel Stephanie Beatriz. The conflict is minimal at best, which allows for Mirabel to spend more time learning about what she can do despite her lack of powers, but it also leaves the movie feeling a bit meandering.

The only reason I gave it 3 starts out of ten is that the main character is likable but it lacks anything memorable, overdoes the same scenes that doesn't progress the plot and the ending was so close to being good then they botched it by Disney-ing it up. Mostly entertaining but I got bored many times maybe because I'm an adult and this is colombia mi encanto musical opiniones toward kids. I love the adventure genre and this music accentuates it.

Members of the Madrigal family and their gifts are built on familiar archetypes. Her oldest sister Isabela is the golden child, so flowers bloom with every step she takes. They are funny and nice and the kind of people that everyone likes. Only the kid with the animal gift was likable. I foresee many more movies akin to this in the future. The weakest song though is the bizarre "Surface Pressure", that was the one song that didn't stick in the mind afterwards and felt oddly staged and didn't feel placed easily within the film. Way too many characters that contribute nothing. It's a hit or a miss. Even the antagonist was not the usual level of creativity that they've done, which though it fits into the story, still could have used a little more adversity to drive the bus. And there are even more questions arising from the resolution. Everything is super colorful. Encanto is another Incredible Disney animated movie that continues their winning streak with a fun, extremely vibrant and emotional film that also has great messages and mature themes, even if the narrative is predictable. I don't see myself watching it again anytime soon. The direction by Jared Bush, Bryon Howard and Charise Castro Smith is superb, it's constantly visually inventive and extremely well paced. All except for one, Mirabel Stephanie Beatriz. I give Encanto 5 out of 5 stars and recommend it for ages 10 to 18, plus adults. The music is not particularly good, and most annoyingly, some major plot points are contained only in the damn songs. The magic of the rooms and that imagination we get in the opening numbers, sort of fades to the background and I would have loved more of that magic to come in to the story instead of just the songs. It has some heart, some fantastic visuals, great animation, an intriguing premise, and as expected wonderful vocal performances. In a family where every member has some sort of magical gift, the one who doesn't seem to have any magic sets out to stop whatever is threatening to extinguish the source of their magic.
