When people think of Emma Watson they often immediately go to the magical wizarding world, to Hogwarts and to her role as Hermione Granger. It is a career-defining role for the actress, simply because it is such a successful franchise and she just so happens to be one of the lead roles. Fans got to literally see her grow up throughout the films, as a person and as an actress. However, even though she will always be remembered for the Harry Potter movies, that doesn't mean that the brilliant actress hasn't done great work elsewhere. Within this list are some of Emma Watson's best non- Harry Potter films, ranking her top 10 movies outside the wizarding world, according to their Rotten Tomatoes scores. This is a very serious film that sees Emma Watson's character, Lena, end up in a cult. It's one that she struggles to escape from and things certainly take a turn for the worse. Despite its harsh Rotten Tomatoes review, the movie is entertaining and has no shortage of drama that will keep an audience gripped throughout. IMDb rated this film much greater, with a 7. Emma Watson is one of many actors and actresses who has taken a leap into the world of animation, which she did with The Tale Of Despereaux. In this film, Emma Watson gets to voice the character of Princess Pea, who is kidnapped. She is the damsel in distress who has to be rescued by the lead role, which is a mouse called Despereaux. It isn't the greatest animated film of all time and it's not exactly giving Pixar a run for its money.

Maybe it could have included more of the direct and authentic voice of those who suffered. This is a very serious film colonia rotten tomatoes sees Emma Watson's character, Lena, end up in a cult.

Principal photography began on 2 October in Luxembourg; filming also took place in Germany and Argentina. In , Lena is a strong, independent and adventurous West German Lufthansa stewardess and is in relationship with Daniel, a West German journalist and leftist activist living in Chile. Upon arrival in Santiago , she reunites with him and they spend their days in the capital peacefully. Daniel and Lena try to escape, but like thousands of others, they are picked up and taken to the National Stadium in Santiago, where a defector identifies Allende's supporters. After Lena is released, she tries to find and save him. Lena joins the organisation to rescue Daniel, only to learn it is a cult that combines Baptist -style tenets, punitive agrarian lifestyles, Nazism , and aggressive anti-Communism , from which no one has ever escaped. She witnesses Doro, a fellow member, get brutally beaten and humiliated at the men's section after it is revealed that she wanted to marry another cult member.

The movie begins as a pretty conventional period romantic drama. Lena and Daniel are shipped to a soccer stadium for processing and Daniel gets ratted out. The latter, especially, made him a useful tool for Pinochet, and the colony functioned, after the coup, as a repository for dissidents, who were tortured and imprisoned there. A fascinating, terrible place. One that might have more effectively conveyed to film viewers outside the strictures of a romance-based suspense picture. But, alas, this is the story of Colonia that we have been given. Lena, on learning of this place, dresses way down and hides there, trying to go undercover as a God-seeker. Once the couple is reunited, director Gallenberger does manage to ramp up some effective suspense depicting their efforts to escape. But these mechanics, in turn, diffuse what also wants to be a powerful story of human rights abuse. Glenn Kenny was the chief film critic of Premiere magazine for almost half of its existence.

Is it worth seeing? Didn't see that coming! But this is just a minor criticism. Everything about this movie is perfect, from the set and costume design to the acting. But there's much more at stake than "just" the fate of two young lovers. I enjoyed watching 'Colonial" thoroughly. During the escape, they are discovered and Ursel is killed but Lena and Daniel escape to the West German embassy. Well Daniel is soon swept up in the ruckus and taken to Colonia Dignidad. I appreciate this movie's realism but as a film it really fails to engage the senses, lacking the requisite suspense and depth for something like this to succeed. All in all, it's one of the best movies I've seen this year and cannot be compared with the commercial films normally shown in cinemas. I personally knew the very basic facts about Colonia Dignidad and the way this organization was depicted here certainly raised my interest. Unless, that was their idea of playful banter and flirting. The second task would be create characters and a story within the historical context that makes us care for them. Aside its educational value, the movie convinces with the realistic settings that bring the seventies in Chile back to life. It is a thriller and it is well made but it lacks a certain something to kick it further into the 'must be seen' category.

It's just because the movie is based on true facts and that makes you realize how some people are just not worth living on this planet. Like Loading That such originality is based on fact is highly disturbing on its own. She is one of many celebrities who appears in the movie, all who happily mock themselves and the celebrity world culture that they exist within. Audiences know what they are getting with an Eli Roth film, and a documentary has its own sense of wonderment, but Colonia tends to jump from the political thriller to love story to religious brainwashing in a patchwork way that feels a bit all over the place, and it is this "clumpy" genre blending that may be the film's weakest point. A movie certainly worth seeing, but not a fun one at all. Naomi Klein identifies the neoliberal onslaught as having been incubated under the subsequent Chilean leader, General Pinochet in early 70s Chile. When a military coup suddenly drives Allende from power, the new government starts rounding up political dissidents, including Daniel — and Lena, who happens to be with him when he's arrested. However, even though she will always be remembered for the Harry Potter movies, that doesn't mean that the brilliant actress hasn't done great work elsewhere. Lena finally catches sight of Daniel when she steals a glance through the window of the colony's assembly hall during a men's meeting and is obviously concerned about his state of mind. Not in a bad way though because I really liked this movie. British Board of Film Classification. While the movie isn't anywhere near the animated film's level, it provides a fun and nostalgic trip back through the classic, hitting the same beats while adding a little more detail to many of the characters, including Belle. The old hag nazi b! It is a career-defining role for the actress, simply because it is such a successful franchise and she just so happens to be one of the lead roles.
