Consew 226

Gents, I have the chance to pickup a consew It is as near as I can tell an older machine. Needs some cosmetic cleanup. Is this of any use for leather. It looks a lot like a to me. Not sure it would work but I have it. I have no use for a blind stitch bt couldn't pass up a table and a motor at that price. Thanks for any thoughts Ross. Ok gang here is what I picked up. IT needs cleaned up and is missing part of the foot. I am betting as I go over I will find more things it needs. I couldn't pass it up for that kind of money. I welcome opinions and Bob do you sell parts? Bob, It needs work mostly cleanup and cosmetic and then I will see what I really got but that kinda price I just had too. I know very little about sewing machines yes I see you sewing machine gurus cringing but mechanical I am pretty good I have redone two landis G and a and all are working fine so far so just another adventure at a good price Ross. I love my , and as long as you take it easy it can sew thread, just watch the bobbin, as it does not hold a lot of heavy thread so just keep an eye on it with long runs.

I don't consew 226 if it is a needle issue or a timing issue or what. I also have a metal lathe at my disposal to build the shaft I needed.

.

The 'fabric' actually a piece of cardboard moves back and forth but doesn't progress in either direction. The needle just goes through the same hole. This was a completely frozen machine and needed a near complete disassembly. About the only things I didn't take apart were the middle shaft for the reverse on the bottom of the machine and the shaft on the bottom that controls the feed dog, and the rock shaft in the upper arm part of the casting. I have no idea if it was working properly before I took it apart. The needle comes down and passes through the vibrating foot and fabric when it's in a rear position and moving forward. The needle lifts and the vibrating foot follows the feed dog and pulls the fabric back. Here is how I assembled it. What do I have out of time and how do I fix that?

By krista , February 8, in Leather Sewing Machines. The RB-1 is alittle newer machine with a different handwheel stamped steel the RB should have a cast iron wheel the look similar to the old Singer w machines. Maybe the R stands for Reverse. This Singer machines lacked reverse, except for one sub-class Consew , R, R-1, R-2 has three different casting frames. The oldest has an 'old style' reverse that dates back the the '60s, one of the first Seiko Mfg.
