Lots of new staff with attitudes and 3 star service. Rooms are outdated and in desperate need of a renovation.

The ship holds a spot in the heart of many types of travelers, but especially those who love history, whether it's maritime history or Gilded Age. The biggest change was in the Kings Court buffet, which features a completely fresh design. The redesign transformed the space from a chaotic feeding frenzy into a calm space for daily grazing. The area could still benefit from more tables; we spotted some passengers taking their plates to Carinthia Lounge at busy times. With four elevators removed and 50 new cabins added during the refurbishment, Cunard QM2 -- as the ship is sometimes known -- could have become overcrowded around the other elevators, but this doesn't seem to be a problem. Our transatlantic crossing sailed at capacity, yet the ship felt as spacious as ever.

Our first cruise over the Christmas holiday! This was our 19 th voyage with Cunard, so it is obvious we like the line a lot. Every cruise line has a personality. Formal nights, fine dining and attentive service ticks all the right boxes for us. We have enjoyed many cruises. The Queen Mary 2 was by far the best yet. It's an ocean liner, not a cruise ship, which meant the "ride" was so smooth it was hard to tell we were at sea for most of our 3 week voyage. Even in high seas and gale force 10 winds, we found it easy to move around and hardly noticed the motion. The ship provides outstanding service in every department. The crew is exceptional, courteous, friendly and very professional, making everyone feel special. The variety and quality of entertainment and enrichment activities was also unusually high compared to other lines we have used.

Bathroom still has a musty curtain and room temperature can not be fixed as they were here twice. The staff questions everything. Read More. We wanted to do something different for the holidays but after being a bit disappointed by the high passenger loads and reduced staffing and services on some recent cruises, our expectations were a bit muted. Also we were not enthused about flying during such a busy time of year.

Super service. There was an onboard promotion for a chain of jewelry stores with a presence in the different ports. Balcony staterooms average about square feet, which I think is larger than the industry average. The crew is exceptional, courteous, friendly and very professional, making everyone feel special. However, the ship really excels in its specialty dining, both at Kings Court Specialty A La Carte -- the ship's daily changing themed restaurant -- and its new addition, The Verandah. During the day, it is recommended that passengers dress in stylish casual wear, including shorts, smart jeans or chinos and collared or casual shirts. Our 4th transatlantic voyage on the QM2 over a year period. Possibly our last. Overall service is a little less attentive.

Singing Christmas carols. I have developed a new appreciation for booking shore excursions. On recent crossings, the ship under delivered in some areas, notably the un helpfulness of a couple of crew members and the quality of food in the ship's main dining room, Britannia Restaurant, where the majority of passengers eat. Cabins on Deck 8 and above have glass railed balconies. On informal nights, men are still required to wear jackets, although ties are optional. How did the trip measure up? The party favors were great too. The ship's "remastering" was an opportunity not just for improved functionality and aesthetics, but for Cunard to improve on these areas, too, and we feel they haven't been addressed. Five parties to choose from! High Points: There were plenty! Show more filters.
