Nice short hike with decent elevation gain. Very brushy and steep most of the way. Recommend pants. But we enjoyed it just the same. This one was built in Definitely worth visiting for the rhododendrons. Otherwise, this could be a cardio hike if you pushed your uphill pace. No other parties encountered. We saw some pine drops. Very hard to find trailhead as sign is off the road!

Temps were in the high teens so the Berner was very happy today.

I've lived my entire sixty-eight years in the Inland Empire, the last forty-three in Rancho Cucamonga, and I must say I was absolutely stunned to recently discover that the black top running alongside the flood control channel is now on TraiLink and is called Deer Creek Bike Path even though there are absolutely no signs anywhere designating that name to the path. Since no one had yet to submit a review or photo, I felt compelled to do so in the hope some naive bicyclist does not set their sights on this path. OK, Rancho, kudos for the thought and semi-effort, but this trail leaves quite a bit to be desired as a "bike path". Most of it is not practical as a bike path because of the many interruptions caused by busy major thoroughfares.

Partially closed, but you can complete most of the loop starting across from Chart House. Easy hike with stunning views. You can do just the headlands portion which is about a mile with some steepness going back up at either end or you can go all the way to the water and back up. The rest of the way is stairs and paved or dirt switchbacks if you take the long route. We went too late in the day even for early spring 11am. No matter when you go time of year or time of day make sure you bring water with electrolytes and wear sunscreen and a hat. Wear good shoes, a hat and being water. There is also free neighborhood parking and plenty of it if you get there early, even on a weekend.

Not only is the left side part easier to get up to, but there are a few caves that are very cool to check out. If you are looking for the keyhole cave make a right turn off the main canyon trail. Bring water cause it does get hot in the canyon. Everything up on until the cave is pretty easy and flat.
