May make it "safe" as you can take a hell of a bash and survive, but yeah, you will need it because your damage will be puny and mostly dependent on items.

Upgrade the faith and strength stats to 40 so most weapons and Miracles are usable. For pyromanices, Warmth is a life-saver in tough encounters. It just depends on what your needs are, though.
