I had the opportunity of meeting them some months ago and visiting the Discovery Familia offices in Miami and I realized is that all of the awesome content that Discovery Familia offers is made possible by an amazing group of women, all of them moms like me and all of them interested in providing the best quality educational programming for kids. What I did not know is that even though by Latinos will make up 30 percent of the US population their participation in STEM careers is way below desired levels. I know that high quality educational programming like the one offered by Discovery Familia has awakened in my son a real love for mathematics and has helped him with his creative thinking.

So for me the arrival of summer is really exciting, not just because it means spending more time relaxing on the beach, and having fun in family trips but also because the kids will be spending more time with us and we will have the opportunity to work on their Spanish. There are no bilingual schools in our small town. That is why I am thrilled to have PetraLingua online languages for children as an ally in my quest to raise bilingual children. Their structured lessons cover the curriculum of the first years of foreign language learning at schools and motivate my children to learn by doing fun activities and exploring wich makes learning a second language something natural. So who is PetraLingua designed for and what do the courses include? PetraLingua describes itself as online multimedia language courses that are especially designed for children between the ages of 3 and 10 years, which of course does not prevent grownups from taking advantage of their comprehensive and easy to follow lessons. Children learn through common everyday situations that relate to things that are relevant and familiar to their world. In each lesson new vocabulary is introduced through an introductory video sequence and a large number of lessons include songs composed to repeat and practice the vocabulary from the lesson. After each of the vocabulary videos, there are a bunch of interactive exercises that children can play to practice what they learned.
