In Last Epoch it feels like every enemy runs straight at you for ever. Diablo is also backed by a multi billion dollar corp, it would be pretty sad if it didnt feel better. Sadly, D4 is as deep as a puddle. Last Epoch may be uglier and clunkier, but its a better arpg, there is no arguing that. Blizzard knows how to make animations, and how to make them fit in the gameplay.

The comparisons between Diablo 4 and Last Epoch started ever since Last Epoch was in early access, and they have increased even more since the game's official release. One of the main reasons why we see so many comparisons between these two games is that they have a lot of similarities in terms of their gameplay. Although it is solely up to the players to decide which game they prefer, this list will compare some of the key aspects that make an ARPG game good and decide which game out of the two is better. There is simply no comparison between these two games in terms of visuals and graphics. Diablo 4 easily beats out Last Epoch on this front as it looks much better and is one of the best-looking games in its genre. It is perhaps slightly unfair to expect the creators of Last Epoch, Eleventh Hour Games, which is an indie company, to stand up to the visuals of Diablo 4, which is made by Blizzard, but Last Epoch still does a decent job with its graphics and performance, although just not as good. Last Epoch easily wins out in terms of its variety of loot over Diablo 4.

Last Epoch was often regarded as the Diablo 4 killer as its hype levels grew before its full release on Feb. I had high hopes for Diablo 4 in I instantly started playing the game after its release and had a great time while going through the storyline with my friends. While both games are good on their own terms, I think Last Epoch is superior to Diablo 4. When I compare the two titles side-by-side, I can easily feel that Last Epoch was a passion project, while Diablo 4 feels too industrialized. Despite having a significantly smaller budget, Last Epoch offers more depth and has a more satisfying end-game experience. My personal favorite part of Last Epoch is the loot and crafting systems. Getting Legendary items feels more rewarding, and the loot filter makes grinding easier. From a visual standpoint, Diablo 4 takes the crown when it comes to looks.

The UI, the starting classes, the feel of the combat will all be very familiar to Diablo players. Every ARPG in the past twenty years has been following a similar pattern already, and Last Epoch is just the most recent one. However, Last Epoch takes those influences and goes in inventive new ways, with a premise that elevates it beyond a mere clone of previous games. I think the way this new ARPG works its premise into the game mechanics is a very and important element that breathes new life into the genre. And in a genre that is intentionally packed with procedurally generated content, games need to have that kind of spark. Last Epoch does not have to be played online.
