So honda checked code and replaced VTEC valve switch assymbly. Then code came back up on HDS test for them witch ended up being a valve that was sticking and a strainer replacement. They replaced this all and everything is fine as I can tell. Hope this helps if you get the same code. Sort by Oldest first Oldest first Newest first Most reactions. P thread here.

We recommend Torque Pro. How much each valve will be opened is determined by the camshaft and the profile of its lobes. So, when designing the engine, the manufacturers must choose between the lowdown torque or the power output at high engine speeds. This is at least so when the ratio between the camshafts and crankshaft is fixed. Engines with variable valve timing, though, combine the best of both worlds, so to say. They do this by incorporating a mechanism that advances or retards camshafts rotation depending on driving conditions. This, in effect, keeps valves opened as much as possible for most of the rev range.

So, it is likely that you are wondering what the problem is if your mechanic has pulled code P from your car. In the case of a Honda Accord, diagnostic code P means the variable valve timing control advance is malfunctioning. The error code you receive sounds pretty severe, so what should you do if you see it? Controlling the intake camshaft phase is done through the variable valve timing control system VTC. The valve timing can be optimized based on driving conditions using oil pressure to operate the VTC actuator. The diagnostic trouble code DTC is stored if there is an over-advanced camshaft phase compared with the directed value or if the camshaft phase is otherwise abnormal.

I have not ever replaced the vtc control solenoid, it's usually been a real chain issue. DCM 55 Replies. Did you ever figure out what the problem was? I at almost 70 will probably take it to my dealer for a chain. They replaced this all and everything is fine as I can tell. Re: 04 accord i4 auto Code p I don't really see the guides wear as much as I see the chains stretch to the point of jumping a tooth on at least one of the gears Now that AC relay was faulty, and Honda put out a Sakuma? Just a thought. The pistons have damage from valve contact. P Error Code. If we ever meet, I will be treating you to a fine dinner.. If you plan on keeping car, use Honda only parts. Not sure about what reader does. I grabbed it and immediately about 50 small blue tufts floated off it. Maybe miles on the new oil. It's low on oil but cannot get an accurate reading on sloped driveway. So if it's out of time, you can't just re-adjust the timing chain? Reading the EOC, I know that it might take a few cycles for it to get cleared so I wasn't stressed about it, especially considering that I had just filled the tank yesterday and made sure that I clicked the cap about 4 times. Wife found out I was buying her a year end Sion car and had a fit.
It is a pity, that now I can not express - it is very occupied. I will be released - I will necessarily express the opinion on this question.
Yes, really. I agree with told all above. We can communicate on this theme.
