I just had to drain a 18 speed truck transmission yesterday and it seems like all a guy can find for transmission oil is synthetic. This truck is mainly used just in the summer to pull a water tanker. Is there any other non synthetic transmission oils or different weight of oil that a person can use in these older 18 speed standard transmissions? I do not really want to have one of the trucks with synthetic and the rest wiith conventional transmission oil. Proper lubrication procedures are the key to a good all-around maintenance program. If the oil is not doing its job, or if the oil level is ignored, all the maintenance procedures in the world are not going to keep the transmission running or assure long transmission life.
