Each episode is connected to one or more of the three titular concepts. Miller serves as the showrunner and producer alongside Joshua Donen , David Fincher , and Jennifer Miller; [3] most episodes are written by Philip Gelatt , and are adaptations of short stories. The story revolves around Emmy, a newly assembled and educated gynoid robot, whose purpose is to be shipped to a family and become their servant and nursemaid. Chapters 3 to 14 focus on the Sterling Robotics company's lore and its methods of formation and marketing, while chapters 16 and beyond start after a four-year hiatus to show the daily life of Emmy, one of several Nandroids in an elite district, who is at the service of the Delaire family, especially their daughter Madeline. Most of the webcomic's humor comes from the confrontation of the machine-like reasoning of the Nandroids to the everyday events. The silly and wholesome adventures of Emmy attracted a considerable number of fans both on Twitter Cellini's account reaching more than 15, followers , Instagram with , followers and Webtoons with 47, followers and a score of 9. The Nandroid universe caught the attention of many 4chan members, who were responsible for a lot of the fan art , both of Emmy and other official characters and of original Nandroid characters. The series follows Emmy and her life serving her owners, the Delaire family, and the events following a malfunction she suffers. On Webtoon, the series is described as: 'A high-end robotic nanny named Emmy learns how to adapt to the unpredictable and complicated world of humans and robots after an accident leaves her outmoded. Emmy was created by Sterling Robotics and prepared to become human care-certified at their USA headquarters alongside other Nandroids. Boasting vast knowledge on a range of subjects such as advanced mathematics and multiple languages, [1] Emmy and her classmates went through a rigorous education process at Nandroid School , where they were taught socialization and proper etiquette for how to care for their future human owners. Emmy was then shipped to her new home, and, on a Christmas morning, Ted Delaire unveiled her to his wife Angela and his daughter Madeline , who warmy accepted the Nandroid. Emmy spent the next four years living with the Delaires in Hawthorn Grove. At some point shortly prior to Madeline's 8th birthday, Emmy received a new software update via mail. The issue ultimately culminated into Emmy losing consciousness and involuntarily destroying Madeline's birthday cake, with her arm spraying the cake with fire extinguishing foam seemingly on its own accord in response to perceiving the candles on the cake as a fire threat.
