From our beginnings in Oxford, Georgia, in to our present as an academic and research powerhouse, Emory has a history of doing things differently. Both offer a rigorous academic experience guided by our excellent faculty and grounded in the liberal arts traditions of inquiry, interdisciplinary study, and evidence-based learning. Teaching, research, and service drive our faculty members to help students achieve their goals in a diverse intellectual community. Accounting is a primary area depth that can be part of an Emory BBA. The accounting area depth gives students fluency in financial reporting, the legal environment, and taxation, and it gives students critical skills to help them make complex decisions in an ever-changing environment. The doctoral program in accounting examines the production and use of information through the lens of theories adapted from the social sciences, especially economics and psychology. The MSN program prepares nurses to provide advanced practice in acute care settings through a program of study focused on the care of acutely ill patients and complex chronically ill patients and their families in high acuity specialty areas including critical care, trauma surgery, general surgery, plastic surgery, and hospital medicine. Our MSN program prepares nurses for advanced practice through a course of study focused on the primary care of patients and their families from adolescence through end of life. The African American Studies program at Emory combines academic rigor with social responsibility to examine how African Americans have helped shape the nation.
