Numerous fairy doors can be found dotted along the path through Coosebean Woods, just outside Truro. The 40 acres of woodland were transferred to Truro City Council by Cornwall Council after the completion of the cycle trail. Since then Chris Waddle, Countryside Ranger for Truro City Council, has turned the muddy and rubbish-strewn paths into the trail you can see today.

The woodland at Coosebean, just outside the city, has been adorned for years with enchanted fairy doors. They provide a portal to the magical kingdom so mythical creatures can travel between their world and ours - and bring joy to children and parents who walk through the trees near Truro. But they keep getting damaged. For the fifth time in just a few years, and the second this week alone, the doors have been torn from trees, destroyed and dumped in a river. The man behind them is gutted and says he might have to stop fixing them altogether if it continues. John Rowe started creating fairy doors for his grandchildren in the garden of his Truro home during the first Covid lockdown three years ago. When they asked him to make a larger one and he saw the pleasure and enjoyment they got out of his hard work, the year-old retired Ultrasonic Team leader, decided to install a fairy door in one of his favourite places and walks around the city. Soon, his fairy doors joined the 'Enchanted Trail' created by Truro countryside officer Chris Waddle in the area of woodland at Coosebean just outside of Truro and have been bringing a smile to walkers' faces Earlier this week he condemned the mindless vandals who have been destroying his hard work. Over the winter, some of the muddiest areas have been barked up to protect them from all the heavy rainfall. Bird boxes have recently been installed along the trail, meadows cleared and an old track opened up as an alternative entrance.
