Well I've been thinking about where to get fusion cores across the commonwealth. Besides finding them randomly is there anyway to craft them? Not to my knowledge, fallout 4 fusion core, but they're common late game among traders. You can find a finite amount of them around the Commonwealth but you can buy infinite amounts of them.
I always wondered about this When you find the first fusion core, it's in that device under the museum I always assumed the fusion cores were powering something, because when you remove it, the machine winds down the lights turn off, but I can't imagine what that device would even do, as it doesn't seem to affect anything when you remove the fusion core So are they for charging fusion cores or do fusion cores power them? The fusion cores power them, they are just generators, however as you see in most cases they are simply connected to lights. Ideally yes you should possibly notice a bit more of a reaction to removing a generators power core, but they simply left it to a few lights. There is no way to recharge them, at least in the native game. Fusion cores cannot be recharged at least in the vanilla game and I've not seen a mod for it. If you wait until they are automatically replaced when depleted the empty fusion cores just vanish.
