Follow-up, went back and re-played Mass Fusion without taking a radiation suit, so far, well after the mission ended, still have my normal HUD UI both in and out of armor. Upvote 0 Downvote.

I just noticed that I was missing the 'ghost - stealth' outline of your power armor HUD when it was screwed up, so if you ever see your power armor 'guages' just floating without the ghost framework around it, you are probably having that glitch.
