The Floating Continent is the first world map that the party explores. It was created by Xande by accident, and cared for by Owen and Desch. After Owen falls into a deep sleep that puts the Floating Continent in danger, Desch must go to the Tower of Owen to fix what has happened. The Floating continent takes up the first portion of the game. The design of the environment is based of its appearance in the 3D version's opening movie, and battles takes place on one of the continent's floating rocks. At the beginning of battle, the main stage is surrounded by dense clouds, with other distant floating rocks and isles barely visible.

The Crystal Tower is our primary objective, ultimately, but remember that we can also access the Forbidden Land, Eureka, via an entrance easily accessible in the Crystal Tower. To get there, simply run northward into the next room, and then northward once more to access the door into The Forbidden Land. Once the party enters, head southward. You can wrap around the loop below either way in this initial area as you ultimately go south into the next room, but be wary there are small alcoves off of each side of the loop with two treasures in each. With those in hand, head south. This particular room can be a little confusing because it leads to other smaller rooms and has a lot of various pathways that can convolute things a bit. Nonetheless, you'll want to go southward and head left at first, going north into a small room containing a single chest holding another White Musk. With that in hand, go back to where you turned left, and this time go rightward to an identical room on the other side. The room is the same size, but this one has three chests in it. Grab yet another White Musk here, as well as a Phoenix Down and another Chocobo's Wrath , and then go back to the previous room and run southward.
