The Omega Ruins , also known as Omega Dungeon in the menu at the Monster Arena , is a large optional dungeon located within a small group of islands to the east of Spira 's main continent in Final Fantasy X. Rather maze-like, like Inside Sin , this place must be mapped by the player. Navigating the dark passages, Tidus and his friends will encounter some of the toughest fiends , including the Master Tonberry and Great Malboro , while also coming across chests , which yield some handy treasures. At the end of the cave, two deadly bosses await the party's arrival. A traitor to Yevon , Omega , was executed for treason centuries ago, his malicious spirit still haunting these ruins.

Version: 1. This section covers the Omega Ruins dungeon itself; for information about the chest game, click here. As one would expect, being a hidden dungeon, Omega Ruins has the top normal enemies in the game. For the most part, its unique enemies are top-end versions of smaller fiends, while it also gets some of the fiends from Inside Sin. In any event, especially if your characters haven't completed much more than their own Sphere Grid segments, you'll need to be careful; the area is by no means impossible but accurate play is required. The dungeon is divided into two areas: the Main Ruins , which is the first room in the dungeon, and the Upper Ruins. This section is divided in that same way, but first we need to take a look at the fiends. As mentioned in the intro, Omega Ruins contains some very powerful fiends who will wipe the floor with your pyreflies if you're not careful. That being said, all the enemies in here are doable without "cheese" strats, so if your characters have completed their own Sphere Grids, you should be able to survive with correct play, though you might want to stay near the Save Sphere at the entrance to avoid losing progress. Because of its length, the discussion here is divided into two parts: a detailed discussion , and a shorter summary at the end. To skip ahead to discussion of the dungeon itself, click here. The most dangerous enemy in here, by far, is Great Malboro. It will always Ambush you here unlike Inside Sin , even with Initiative , and its first move will always be Bad Breath. Without protection this is an instant Game Over for all intents and purposes. You can deal with this by either using someone with First Strike First Strike still pre-empts Ambushes, but only on that character , or by bringing a party heavily draped in protection against Poison , Berserk , and Confusion in particular.

The Omega Ruins are one of the toughest areas in Final Fantasy 10 , containing some of the strongest enemies and bosses in the entire game. The opponents you face here will reduce your health to zero in a hurry if you aren't prepared to face them. You can access this location in Final Fantasy 10's late-game after you unlock the airship. But, before you begin, make sure you've leveled up enough and are happy with your equipment. You can return to the airship after completing the game's last dungeon, Inside Sin, so use that as an opportunity to grind if you need to.

Omega Ruins is the top-level secret dungeon of the game, with a lot of the most powerful standard foes the game as to offer. It's divided into two distinct floors, both with a Weapon boss at the end. First of all, before you take even one step away from the Save Sphere, you need to ask yourself a question. That question is:. If you do not, either leave now and buy one or customize it yourself using 1 Return Sphere. There is one reason for doing this. This is near survivable when used normally but when the first turn is always it, you have absolutely no warning and can end up with a Game Over before you've even realized it. With First Strike, especially on Tidus, you can have your whole party escape before it gets that chance and save you from Game Over; otherwise, switch in Yuna and have her summon an aeon to take the brunt of Bad Breath.

The Omega Ruins are where you will find some of the most difficult fiends to fight in the game including Great Malboros and Tonberrys. The Final Fantasy Wikia page has a very good guide on how to obtain the last treasure of Warp Spheres x It will always Ambush you here unlike Inside Sin , even with Initiative , and its first move will always be Bad Breath. It's weak to Holy and has random elemental properties otherwise, and is immune to most status ailments. Protection against Confusion and Petrification is a good idea, and change out any Capturing Weapons as well. If you've gone to Sin already you'll recognize Demonolith , but if not, be warned: it has an absolutely nasty status game, inflicting status hell as a counterattack Darkness , Silence , Poison , Curse , and being able to set Petrification on the whole party as well. One thing that sucks tho, is that you can't run away from the screen once you see the enemy. Each group of chests has equal odds for each of the treasure chests to contain a Mimic or for there to be no Mimic at all with the constraint that there can at most be one Mimic in a chest group. However, its pattern is different than Ultima's. Omega will absorb elemental damage so don't bother using elemental attacks or Aeons such as Shiva or Ifrit. Assuming you don't Bribe it, Ultima Weapon will drop three Lv. For that, the player must move to the west corridor from the entrance, follow the path up to a doormat glyph on the wall, head north to find a chamber with four chests, head northwest into a side corridor with another glyph, activate it, and return to the "doormat" one. Every other monster appears in the main area as well; click here if you need to review the information about them. Wraith is also here from Inside Sin ; it will Doom someone its first turn, after which the real "fun" starts, so take it out before it gets its second turn. Petrification protection, Silence it. The first can be found if you follow the corridor to the right of the entrance.

Without protection this is an instant Game Over for all intents and purposes. Saving the game between groups without reloading does not reset the counter i. Great Malboro. Spend some time leveling your characters up near the entrance with the Save Sphere so you can refill your HP and MP and this boss will be a breeze. I don't remember running into any enemies after Omega was gone. His hatred for Yevon was so strong, he also spawned a lesser Weapon: Ultima. Send Skip Hide. One thing that sucks tho, is that you can't run away from the screen once you see the enemy. It has two tricks, though. If you feel like practicing sticky fingers and why wouldn't you? I'm pretty sure the ones on the left path are still there after you beat Omega, though admittedly it has been a while.
