Megatron is a fictional character who serves as the main antagonist of the Transformers media franchise produced by toy companies Hasbro and Takara Tomy. He is the cruel and tyrannical leader of the Decepticons , a faction of sentient, war-mongering robotic lifeforms that seeks to conquer their home planet of Cybertron and the rest of the known universe. He serves as the archenemy of Optimus Prime , the leader of the rival Autobot faction. As with all Cybertronians, Megatron has the ability to transform between his robot form and various vehicles or weapons. His alternate modes have ranged from a Walther P38 handgun , a particle-beam weapon , a telescopic laser cannon , and a Cybertronian jet , depending on which continuity he is depicted in. Megatron's most consistent origin portrays him as having risen up from being an oppressed worker to a gladiatorial champion who took the legendary name of one of the original Thirteen Primes— Megatronus —as his own. As the mentor of the young Orion Pax , Megatron preached that freedom of self-determination was the right of all sentient beings.

As being upgraded by the machinations of Unicron , he is a focal point of power and madness given form. Galvatron is blind to all but his lust for power and his whims and desires can be sacrificed in a moment's rage. Not even his own subordinates are safe. Though Galvatron is not beyond the capacity for long-term goals, it is his unpredictability and casual disregard for all life that strike such horror in friend and foe alike. Truly, that Decepticon leader is without any sense of empathy. Galvatron was once Megatron, but he was then rebuilt from his death throes in a Faustian pact with Unicron. He retains the memories and spark of Megatron, but his personality was significantly altered after the near-death experience, massive physical upgrade, and reprogramming. And all that was before he went insane. The cause and extent of Galvatron's madness varies between different continuities, as does his physical power.

Later, they meet up with Miranda , who's prepared dinner, and report that the Decepticons have taken over the control room. The humans plan to reach Primus , if Optimus Prime hasn't already contacted him In the control room, Starscream suspects they haven't wiped out all the planet's Autobots yet.

As the Decepticon reeled, the energy bleeding from him shifted, and the Autobots discovered they were not fighting Galvatron at all, but Cyclonus Soon after, Galvatron arranged to meet his ex-lieutenants Cyclonus and Scourge, who had since wound up stranded in the past and sought use of his time jump trigger device to return to the future, unaware the device had been destroyed. This prompted Shockwave to concoct a plan to use Megatron as a weapon against Galvatron. Slaughter them all. In the end, Megatron is captured and brought to Cybertron. Upon gaining the power of an Angel by possessing its body, Starscream mused about using his newfound power against Galvatron, but he first decided to get rid of Optimus Prime once and for all. This catastrophic loss of life destroyed human - Transformer relations and led to the formation of the Earth Defense Command , a governmental organization which drove Transformers from the face of the planet.
