Giannini, more than a century of history! Get to know the history of Giannini, a year-old company that is part of Brazilian music. The great demand causes the company to move shortly afterwards to a larger location, starting to produce 6, annual instruments. A new revolution, now reaching the entire country, forces Giannini to seek new markets for its instruments, expanding its distribution to the interior and coast of SP. Products currently manufactured by Giannini include electric , steel-string acoustic , nylon-string acoustic and bass guitars. Other string instruments include craviolas, cavaquinhos , viola caipiras and mandolins. Giannini also manufactures bowed string instruments such as violins , cellos and double basses , and strings for those instruments. The company was founded in by Tranquillo Giannini — , an Italian immigrant with luthier talents. They currently produce nylon and steel stringed guitars, craviola , viola caipira , cavaquinho , mandolin , violins, electric guitars and basses and some accessories such as guitar tuners and guitar strings. The Craviola, created by Giannini with Brazilian musician Paulinho Nogueira is one of the most notable guitars made by Giannini due to its unique shape and sound identity. It gained widespread visibility after it was used by Led Zeppelin 's guitarist Jimmy Page. The Craviola also received an electric version with Wilkinson pickups. The guitar's wiring has one 3-position key for each of the pickups, which allow them to work with one coil, the other one, both as a humbucker or both separately as single coils, giving a wide range of possible timbres, aside from the regular 3-position key for alternating between both pickups. Best known as a composer and singer, Brazilian guitarist Paulinho Nogueira should also be celebrated as a brilliant designer, whose Craviola is one of the most distinctive and beautiful guitar designs ever made. Its sound is distinctive, a cross between a harpsichord in Portuguese, cravo and the traditional string Brazilian guitar, the viola caipira. It was produced in three styles, including a string. Although it has been played by notable players, including Jimmy Page, who played a string Craviola, it has been largely ignored. This is a shame, given the distinctive and beautiful sound it creates.
