In Hearthstone's Patch The developers are aiming to give a chance to certain deck archetypes before they rotate out of Standard.
Update: The patch is now live, enjoy! Also, do note that the Dust refunds announced in Patch You can read more about those in Patch Blizzard just posted patch notes for the previously announced. The goal was to give pro players enough time to playtest it and prepare before they had to submit their decks. The patch gives a small nerf to Rainbow Mage and Enrage Warrior while buffing some weaker cards, as well as a few Excavate treasures. The update launches today.

Card changes are the alteration of cards from their previous designs. When the need arises, Hearthstone' s designers make card changes that get implemented within patches. Normally, cards which have been nerfed will be made disenchantable for their full crafting cost, for a short adjustment period of 2 weeks. Other card changes, such as buffs will not feature such refund periods. This page lists all card changes made in Hearthstone , to date. Only intentional design changes are listed here. New: Battlecry: Repeat the last spell you've cast that costs 6 or more.
A buff is a card change that causes a card to become more effective or more powerful. The opposite of a buff is a nerf. In Hearthstone, buffs are not called for as often by players as nerfs, since cards that need buffs are usually not visible enough to gather attention in a particular meta. Therefore, buffs are usually requested for a variety of reasons, such as wanting an interesting but weak deck archetype to see play, or wanting to give boost to a struggling class. Developers agree that buffs in general are "low reward and high risk".

Dev Comment: The current power level of the top decks after the launch of Murder at Castle Nathria is pretty close to the level that we'd like it to be. Holy Nova Old: [4 Mana] Deal 2 damage to all enemies. Developers agree that buffs in general are "low reward and high risk". Theotar's play rate did not drop as far as we would have liked it to with the smaller change, and is still higher than we would like it to be leading into March of the Lich King. Mind Control was frustrating to play against. Relic Vault. Relics are prevalent and powerful—we like them and didn't want to fully revert their power level, so we're just touching the strongest Relic to make it a little less explosive. Also, do note that the Dust refunds announced in Patch Sinstone Graveyard. We think it's really cool that Big Demon Hunter has finally become a competitive archetype, and we expect that the archetype will continue to see play after this slight adjustment. Restore 2 Health to all friendly characters. Disco Maul. Dev Comment: Discard is a thematic Warlock archetype with many tools over the years.

Wildpaw Gnoll - Now costs 6 mana Up from 0 5. Undertaker was frustrating to play against. Overseer Frigidara is a Core Set card, so it can't be crafted or disenchanted. The goal was to give pro players enough time to playtest it and prepare before they had to submit their decks. Dev Comment: Demon Hunter has been the other standout winrate class since the release of the latest mini-set. If his playrate doesn't drop significantly with this change, we'll evaluate further changes at the next opportunity. It it's a Beast, reduce its cost by 2. Its effect honestly isn't that powerful, it just feels so good to be able to use it against Spell Mage or Pure Paladin , but metrics-wise it's not very good. We're also making a few changes to some older, exciting cards, to provide the class that boost it needs. Miracle Rogue has not been overperforming in power, but we are aware it can win in frustrating ways, so we'll be keeping an eye on how it develops following these buffs. Your next spell this turn costs 1 less. Ultimately, we felt that its power level was still higher than is appropriate for a Neutral card with no build-around requirements.
