An important choice that Arthur Hellsing makes is to appoint his daughter, Integra, to take over the Hellsing organization, and not his brother, Richard, who it turns out is not worthy of the position after all. Most importantly, Arthur Hellsing has extensive knowledge of vampires, and the Hellsing organization's most important asset - the vampire Alucard. The anime shows flashbacks of how he taught Integra, the fearless leader of Hellsing, how to be a great leader and what her philosophy regarding vampires should be. The mercenary, Pip Bernadotte, and his group called the Wild Geese, ally with the Hellsing organization after being hired to fill the security gap following a brutal assault on the Hellsing Headquarters. As the leader of the Wild Geese, Pip Bernadotte is a skillful fighter, using guns as his weapons of choice - an AK47 and an army revolver. He and another skilled Hellsing fighter, Seras Victoria, develop a romantic relationship, and he ultimately sacrifices himself to save her life in a battle with Zorin Blitz, an officer for Millennium.
