By the time the second season rolled around, however, the series decided to introduce Killian Jones, the pirate who would become Captain Hook. An utterly one note character for the entire second season, and even most of the third, Hook was rapidly given more and more importance in the narrative, no matter the fact that he never really fit in there. Hook was never made to be a sympathetic character — audiences were told he had changed, when in reality, the pirate was perhaps one of the least likely to change in the entire cast of characters. Being a criminal who takes lives is more or less a precondition for being a villain on Once Upon A Time. To be fair, Hook did try, on a few occasions, to change, and to make amends — certainly more than other villains such as The Evil Queen, Rumple, or Zelena ever did.

Hook once upon a time

He is the main reality version of Wish Hook. Hook is based on the character of the same name from the Peter Pan story, and the character of the same name from Disney film Peter Pan. When Killian is still a child, he boards a ship with his older brother Liam and his father Brennan to explore other worlds. That night, he becomes afraid to sleep during a storm that causes the ship to tilt and sway. Brennan comforts him, telling him that there is nothing to be scared of, as long as he looks into himself and can decide the kind of man he wants to be someday. Killian decides he wants to be just like his father, and he is lulled to sleep after Brennan promises to stay to ensure the room lantern remains lit. Sometime after this, he wakes up to find his father gone, and in his panic, he attempts to shake Liam awake. Only when the captain enters, Killian learns Brennan sold him and Liam into servitude on the ship, in order to elude capture because he is a wanted criminal. Many years later, while Killian and Liam are still stuck in servitude as lowly deckhands, his brother suggests using their wages to enlist in the king's navy, where they can become respectable men. Killian is not confident that he is navy material, but he jokes about Liam perhaps becoming a captain one day. Overhearing the conversation, Captain Silver mocks him and kicks over the brothers' water bucket. Killian moves to retaliate against him, but he is held back by Liam, despite Captain Silver egging on Killian. When the captain allows the older Jones brother to go collect his wages, at the cost of making Killian stay behind, Liam promises Killian that he will be back for him by morning. That night, Killian is offered a drink by Captain Silver, and he eventually drinks more on his own whim and becomes drunk. While stoned, he also gambles away his money to the captain.

Rejecting Hook's words, he grabs the box containing the bean and stalks off. He also cast a curse that affected all of Storybrooke.

We discussed it and, together with the creators, we managed to come up with something that is quite different. Colin is married to Helen O'Donoghue. Colin's early career was mainly split between theater and television work in Ireland and the UK. Primarily, Colin has starred in Irish and United Kingdom movies and television shows. He also made a notable appearance in the third season of historical fiction series The Tudors as Duke Philip of Bavaria. He caught the eye of a Los Angeles agent from his appearance on The Tudors [4] that landed him his very first Hollywood movie role was in the horror thriller flick The Rite. From to May , he was part of a five piece Ireland based band The Enemies. As a result of his Once Upon a Time filming obligations, Colin left the band to continue acting on the show.

Liam's death has a profound effect on Killian, who takes his place as captain of the ship and renames it the Jolly Roger. Some characters on Once Upon A Time definitely got the short end of the stick in terms of what they were allowed to wear.
