Our mission is simple: build a healthier community. National research shows that hospitals with residency programs offer improved patient outcomes. We believe the presence of residents in the hospital provides an infusion of new ideas and techniques, benefitting patients, established physicians and other hospital staff members. For the past 40 years, we have offered a Graduate Medical Education program — a unique feature for a not-for-profit community hospital. Our program includes an internal medicine residency and a general surgery residency. Nearly 1, medical and surgical residents have taken advantage of performing their residency in this community-based environment, complemented by rotations through Los Angeles County USC Medical Center. Of these, more than one-third find themselves returning upon graduation to practice locally, thus ensuring the future of care in the San Gabriel Valley.
