Most of these comics are rather long, often ongoing to this day, and created to be binge-read. And to start, I must commend the creator for dreaming up such a bold premise. She now must kill one sinner a day they are marked with red Xs or go right back to Hell. Almost immediately, what it means to sin becomes a plot point. The comic is smart enough regarding this to be fascinating, especially when exploring the rules of Hell. But, unlike that show, Grim Reaper is very dark, gritty, and violent.

Upon a young woman's death, she loses her memories and is taken directly to Hell, where she not only meets the devil, but is informed that she was one of the worst sinners there were, and is given a choice: either become one of his grim reapers, or be sentenced to the ninth circle of Hell, a complete void lacking in any of the five senses. To avoid this fate, she agrees. Going by the name of Scarlet, she now has to kill one sinner per day, lest she be taken to the ninth circle. However, she meets a detective who seems to know something about who she was while alive. Hungry for answers, she teams up with him to try to discover who she was while alive. However, she's keeping her identity as a reaper a secret, and she still must find and kill one sinner every day, which complicates things. While they are murderers, they are ultimately better than Satan and Judah. Absurdly Long Wait : Played for drama. When Liam discovers Ana's body and calls emergency services, he discovers that not only is there a waitlist, but it'll take twenty-five whole days for anyone to come investigate. It plays a major role in his Sanity Slippage. Action Film, Quiet Drama Scene : This may not be a movie, but for a webcomic with so many action scenes, there are definitely more contemplative moments, since life and death are very prevalent themes. Action Girl : Scarlet is very good at using her scythe

Red Eyes, Take Warning : Scarlet's irises are bright red ordinarily, and one of them tends to glow when she summons her weapon. When The Afterlife merges with the human world, they leak out and bond with sinners.

The series originally appeared on Canvas and was re-uploaded to Originals on August 24, The Canvas art was all in black and white, aside from some red in bolder locations, such as a person's mark. However, the Originals version features colored characters with black and red backgrounds. Scarlet is the main character, at the start of the Webtoon we are shown her final moments before dying. We can notice there are police sirens on the page before she truly dies. She is one of the many who belong to the Ninth Circle of Hell, where she exists in oblivion until the end of time itself.

Cool and Unusual Punishment : Given the choice, he would rather be ripped into shreds multiple times and be forced to regenerate over performing team building exercises. He marries her and gives her a kiss just before she is decapitated. Over-the-Shoulder Carry : After rescuing Chase from the Red Spades and running into Brook again, Scarlet swings him over her shoulder so she can wield her scythe. Episode implies, based on Their description of humanity as extensions of Themselves, that their gender depends on the preferences of whoever they're talking to. Undying Loyalty : She has absolute loyalty to God, and was promoted to archangel after she died for her beliefs. When we finally get his backstory about what happened to his mom and siblings, it alternates between black and white and full color. It leads to her and her demon finally joining forces without it overpowering her and her landing a visible blow on Satan.

Nightmare Face : She has a demon inside her that, when she begins to lose control, starts to come out and overwhelm her. Karmic Death : The sin that damned her to the 9th Circle also ended up causing her death. Expository Hairstyle Change : At the beginning of Season 3, after spending twenty-five years in the 9th layer, Scarlet's bob becomes a floor-length hairdo. Line-of-Sight Alias : Done when the protagonist is asked for her name by another character, Jordan. After Ashe stole her demon and ate it, that copy's personality was partially mixed into his. Alice Allusion : He dresses up like a rabbit and has a lot of tattoos of clocks on his body. She doesn't find them cute, but Chase does in his own way. Reincarnation : He is a reconstruction of Barghest, Scarlet's former demon. Pieces of God : Every being that exists is a lesser reflection of God intended to experience different life paths. Within that circle is the only place they can unleash their full powers, unrestrained. Curb-Stomp Battle : She is on the receiving end from Brook.
