Is it simply a replacement for the Vimle in name only? I cover all of this, and more, in this article. There are certainly no notable differences at first glance, but, when you look closer at the specs, there are a few tweaks to be aware of. It is impossible to discern any tangible difference at first glance. They both have the exact same modern profile with the same clean lines. Further, when comparing the dimensions of the new IKEA Finnala sofa and the older Vimle model, the size is virtually the same — with a couple of exceptions. There is less than an inch increase in the backrest height and the armrest height between the two models.

Back to top Share. The cover is easy to keep clean since it is removable and machine washable. I noticed this was an issue for a lot of people in the Vimle series which is discontinued. It is a horrible design. I have pets so I need covers that are easy to wash or replaced if absolutely needed. I like the firmness of the seat cushions. The quality of the covers has the feel of a coarse burlap sack, and the the zippers are poorly manufactured. I purchased the sofa and chaise combination, and though some steps were a bit difficult, I managed to assemble it just fine in two hours had to rest after wrestling a bit with connecting the arms and back, mind you 65yo woman.
