It is possible for people to live in a healthy, peaceful and happy way in the society on the condition of the existence of the legal rules determined for that society as well as the values that the society has adopted, internalized and wants to pass on to future generations. Values are generally defined as generalized behavioral principles that set a certain standard in reaching a conclusion about the behavior or behavior patterns exhibited by people and that are formed by the emotional dependence of the people who make up the society. Educational institutions and the textbooks used in these institutions have a large share in the transfer of the values defined in this way to future generations. Because textbooks are seen as materials that help value education as well as mediating the transfer of the acquisitions in the curriculum. Within this context, the present study was done to examine the mathematics textbooks prepared for middle school and imam hatip secondary schools in terms of root values.
