Every expansion to The Binding of Issac had a sort of theme to them. With Wrath of the Lamb, it was spiders. Spider enemies and some spider items, among other things. Rebirth gave us poop enemies, isaac greed.

Greed mode is a game mode introduced in The Binding of Isaac: Afterbirth. A Super Secret Room is also connected to one of the rooms. Up until the penultimate floor, an already unlocked Treasure Room with a silver door frame and a normal locked Treasure Room are also available. The silver Treasure Room always gives items from the Boss pool. The final seventh floor has no waves and contains only three rooms, the largest of which contains the game mode's final boss. As there are no normal drops in Greed mode, the Shop becomes Isaac's primary source of items and pickups.

Greed mode is a new game mode introduced in the Binding of Isaac: Afterbirth expansion. The final boss in the mode is Ultra Greed , an ultra large version of the Greed enemy we know and love! The way the mode works is simple: You press a button in the main room and that spawns enemies in timed waves. Pressing the button once more will stop the waves from spawning, but will deal half a heart of damage to you. If you defeat a wave before the time runs out, it will automatically spawn a new wave. If you don't defeat the enemies before the time ends, the next wave will spawn anyways. Each time you start a new wave, the game will place some coins near the button. Each new wave also counts as entering a new room, so you will get charges for any active items as you start new waves. After eight waves, you will have to press the button again to fight two more waves, both of which will contain bosses. After that, you move onto the next floor by heading into the room that is the most south until you reach The Shop, which will not have any treasure rooms but otherwise contain the same layout. The final floor will then only have three rooms: the empty room you start out in, a room above that with usually a Monstro or some Greeds. The final room will contain the Ultra Greed boss, which after you defeat you can donate coins to the Greed Machine which can unlock various things, including a new character. The general strategy to completing Greed Mode easily is to always pick up the item in the opened Treasure Room that has a silver crown on the minimap. Then, whenever you have extra keys, be sure to open the regular Treasure Room for another item. The Shop in Greed Mode is very special, it usually is very randomized with different room layouts that could be useful depending on the situation.

Instead, The Shop spawns mostly Greed enemies, but can also spawn isaac greed from any floor. A restock box, a Fortune Telling Machineand a half red heart behind Poop.

As detailed on McMillen's blog , Greed mode offers a twist on the endless survival mode we see in so many games by offering players a mercy button that ends each wave The round will begin with the store, one treasure room and the cursed room unlocked, but once you press a button in the center of the stage it will lock all surrounding doors and spawn enemies. Once you slay a mob of enemies or run out of time, another wave will spawn. This continues until you've cleared a certain number of waves or die. But there is one out with the Stop button. Hit this and the wave will stop, but you'll lose a half heart in the process. Enemies won't drop health, so sacrificing even a half heart is a huge punishment. Interestingly, enemies won't drop items at all. Instead, each wave also spawns a shower of pennies. The more waves you've cleared without using the Stop button, the more pennies you'll receive.

Greed attacks by firing fast-moving sets of 3 blood shots from his mouth and by summoning 2 Hoppers which can be replaced by Trites if the player has Wrath of the Lamb installed which also begin to attack Isaac. His shots cause Isaac to lose 3 coins , two will be dropped on the ground and one will be lost permanently. This also applies to any contact damage dealt by him. Greed is one of the harder sins to fight, as his triple shots are fast and he has no animation or sound to warn you before he attacks.

I have a question about Azazel, does he have a quick attack? You don't REALLY need to get the devil room on the last floor if you're that desperate to just beat the mode quick, right? The greed machine breaks more often on characters that have donated more. All of his attacks listed below deal a full heart of damage and also make you drop coins when hit, which he can then walk over them to disappear and heal himself for a bit of health. His eyes turn into a slot machine and whatever his eyes land on will spawn coins that have differing effects based on what they land on, the symbols being hearts, bombs, and keys. This continues until wave 8 or 10 is reached, Isaac dies, or Isaac presses the button again. The enemies spawned by each wave are determined by the wave number and current floor.
