In the coming months, Mezza Luna will be a brand-new addition to the Hauppauge community, where they will be serving classic, fine Italian cuisine in the former location of what was once a Hauppauge favorite, Mario Restaurant. Alongside Norden at Mario was Peter A. Following the closure of their beloved workplace, they both sought to continue sharing that love of Italian cuisine with patrons in the Hauppauge community through their newly developed restaurant Mezza Luna. When visiting Mezza Luna , guests can expect a fresh take on classic Italian style, with its modernized interior design and expanded menu for all to enjoy. The restaurant will be offering table-side cooking, which will include the making of pasta, salad, desserts, and more! Not only will guests be able to dine there - but all will be able to celebrate their private events in-house or cater their off-premise events as well. Having been there with a corporate holiday party in the past and friends' recommendation after holding their wedding rehearsal dinner at Mario's, I thought we'd hold a business recognition dinner there too. I spoke with Mario on a few occasions to review the needs of the the group and in explaining that we'd be ending our meeting at the nearby hotel meeting space at night after their kitchen closed, he proceeded to welcome the group anyway because "it's Monday night and very quiet" and that we could "stay as long as you want" as he said to me over the phone, as long as we placed our meal orders before 9pm when the kitchen closes, and when I asked him if it'd still be ok to come after pm when our meeting finished, he said sure and we agreed on a pre-ordered menu plan for a group of 17 at about 3pm, well in advance of the kitchen closing. Mario even welcomed us to the main dining space instead of the downstairs area and that he'd create a u-shape area just. My husband and I found Mario's about 15 years ago. We absolutely love it!
