As civil war draws nearer jacaerys " House of the Dragon ," it's becoming clearer that entire families are going to be jacaerys into battle, even their youngest members. We've already met Jacaerys Velaryon as a child, but according to George R. When Rhaenyra was crowned queen, she officially named named her firstborn son, Jacaerys as the Prince Royal. Jacaerys is a dragonrider whose dragon is Vermax. Jace is a strapping boy, who grew to become a handsome teenager. Like his brothers, Lucerys and Joffrey, he had brown hair and eyes, and a pug nose. This made many at court suspect that Ser Harwin Strong, the sworn shield of Queen Rhaenyra Targaryen, was the brothers' true father. Responsible, bold, and politically savvy, Jace was protective of his family, he became skilled at arms by serving as a squire.

Safety is largely an illusion in Westeros, but House Targaryen has a bigger target on its back due to its possession of the Iron Throne. More so than ever, the Targaryens fear for their lives as the blacks and greens fight for control of the crown. While no character can be completely safe in House of the Dragon , Jacaerys Velaryon is in no imminent danger. One salacious source wrote that Jeyne told Prince Jacaerys Velaryon he could have her support if he could satisfy her sexually, but this is discounted by another narrator. The more believable account is that Jeyne Arryn told Jace that, as a woman whose rule has been contested, she must stick with Rhaenyra and other women in this world of men. Jacaerys agrees to this deal, at which time Jeyne and her warriors kneel before him. Cregan gives Jacaerys a warm welcome, followed by the two men hunting, drinking, and training together before swearing an oath of brotherhood bound in blood. However, Jace hasn't known any interest in religion in House of the Dragon. It was also written that Jace's dragon Vermax lays eggs at Winterfell , but this is unlikely since the dragon was thought to be male.

Jacaerys is the eldest son of Rhaenyra Targaryen and her husband Laenor Velaryon, [6] and older brother of Lucerys and Joffrey Velaryon. He is second-in-line to inherit the Iron Throne after his mother, Rhaenyra. Per an agreement between Viserys I Targaryen and Corlys Velaryon , Jacaerys is expected to take the name "Jacaerys Targaryen" upon acceding to the throne. Although presented as legitimate, Jacaerys and his brothers are in truth bastards fathered by Ser Harwin Strong.

In reality, he's the first son of Rhaenyra and her lover Ser Harwin Strong; they have a total of three sons together, all of whom are claimed by Laenor, who is secretly gay. King Viserys orders that his own son Daeron and Jace share a wet nurse, hoping that the pair being "milk brothers," as they are called, would somehow help ease the likely enmity between the two branches of the family. Of course, that doesn't exactly work out. As is tradition, a dragon egg is placed in Jace's cradle, and ultimately, the dragon Vermax hatches for him. Growing up, Jace and his brothers are bitter enemies of Viserys and Alicent's children, and a fight breaks out when Alicent's sons mock the Velaryon boys and accuse them of being illegitimate Velaryons. A similar accusation is repeated during the squabble over who should succeed Corlys Velaryon, with a Velaryon cousin accusing the boys of not being legitimate heirs.

He is the second-in-line heir to his family throne, but the circumstances of his bloodline are threatening not only his claim to the throne, but his very life and the lives of his siblings, Lucerys and Joffrey. With civil war brewing among the houses of Westeros, Jacaerys Velaryon and the truth behind his and his siblings' conception may only add fuel to the growing political fire. Jacaerys Velaryon first appeared alongside his many siblings and half-siblings in episode 6 , helping his infant brother Joffery bond with his dragon by placing its egg in his brother's cradle while he slept. The three brothers bare no resemblance to their father , Laenor Velaryon, but they do resemble, and have a close relationship to, Ser Harwin Strong , leader of the City Watch. Their cousins and siblings -- Aegon, Viserys, Rhaena, and Baela Targaryen -- all more closely resemble their father's bloodline with stark-white hair and his darker skin complexion.
