It was Nezumi the Rat. We start with some monologuing from Ox. He has just killed the fantastic Tiger as she requested. He finally starts thinking that she reminds him of that girl from way back win, but he thinks that comparing that naive girl to this warrior tiger woman would be insulting to Tora. During this scene, Ox will think aloud. A lot. This is likely reflective of the fact that this anime is based on a light novel, so monologues are what we are going to get. Ox is pretty badass. Unfortunately, we never really get an in-depth background for Ox, just the flashback of his encounter with Tiger. However, at least with Ox, his personality is well-fleshed out. We can grasp the sort of man he is from his philosophy.

I noted earlier how Tiger begins to just kill without thought. She lives only in the present.

To get it all started, we get yet again, another shot of Dragon hovering above the battle between his undead sibling and Tiger and Ox. Oh, what about the half-hearted effort at crafting back stories that tie the Juuni Taisen with the real world? A sucker for a good tie-in, I particularly liked this reference. In this new Taisen, Hitsujii ranks the other warriors by their ability and plots a scheme using the poison Juseki crystal, which he somehow managed not to swallow. Ox appears on the scene, kills the troops, and rescues her, not knowing who she is. This distracts him long enough for Rabbit to jump up and slice him in half, leaving only three other warriors alive, Rat, Ox, and Tiger. Ox asks Tiger if they met before and has a grudge against him, but she responds that she dislikes brooding types like him. Rigid characters such as Ox, who have boring but respectable quirks or ideals, get better over time for me. Some things just stay mysterious and Rabbit will be one of those inexplicable evil mysteries.
