In the Stars story arc, when it's explained that the Sailor Starlights are searching for a princess themselves, casual viewers could assume that it will once again turn out to be Usagi. Princess Kakyuu proves to be an exception to the rule since, not only is she a completely different character, she's not someone the viewers had met before she makes an appearance. That said, she isn't completely unconnected to the established characters, as Chibi-Chibi was helping her hide. As another princess in the series, Princess Kakyuu serves as a counterpart to Princess Serenity. Like Sailor Moon, she is a leader of a group of Sailor Senshi.
