Once the design was finalized, the transfer film was applied to the customer's car, a process that involved a rehearsal and several days of checks, according to Bugatti. The car was then painted, after which the transfer film was removed, revealing the final pattern. Bugatti has declared that the Divo is " made for corners. Those figures match the Chiron, but the Divo also is also 77 pounds lighter and has pounds more downforce, making it more capable on a track. Deliveries of the Divo began in August —two years after it's unveiling—but the first cars didn't reach the U.

After everybody was happy with the film on the car, it was time to paint … which involves not only applying the Graphite over the Customer Special Red but also meticulously removing every single diamond film, all 1, of them, without damaging the paint. After that, the paint gets sanded, smoothed, checked, retouched where necessary only to be re-sanded again. After applying the clearcoat another session of wet sanding and buffing goes on to create that deep, wet-look finish and gloss … it took months of hand craftsmanship to create this car.
But the supercar-maker isn't a quitter, so it got the job done. And it's wild. Bugatti isn't known for giving up. It makes dreams a reality when customers approach the firm requesting wild colors, one-off materials and more. But even with Bugatti's immense resources and experience designing and building the unthinkable, the project you see here was so intense, the company nearly gave up.
