As my eldest child had a lot of allergies, and was unwell frequently, it was just impossible to stay on top of the washing so a heated clothes airer made sense. Now that I have two children I use the heated airer from around September — March time, alongside a dehumidifier, to get the clothes dried and put away as fast as possible. You absolutely can get by with a normal airer, if you need to, but if you have a little money to spare, and can afford a slight increase on your energy bills it feels well worth it to me.

It does help keep the heat in, but you don't need to pay for the tent cover. Ours is wobbly now, and about 8 years old, but still works well and is a god send in winter. I have the deluxe version with a cover. As Pineapple says, it is best to lay the clothing along the bars rather than hang them over. It reduces the capacity but dries them better. Half way through I turn them over. Being honest, it wasn't as good as I thought it would be. It takes a long time to dry and if you fill it up with clothing hanging over the bars it takes even longer.

I love it, lakeland dryer. I have one If I need to I will also wash a small load of clothes, face cloths or hand towels and drape those over the airer at the top.

A downpour is tres likely to happen, taking you back to square one. But now I know the signs: high ceilings and single-glazed windows. For me, it almost got to the point of not wanting to do my washing, as it was such a faff. First World problems, I know, but clean clothes is a must. Ironing on the other hand, is a task I have no interest in — thankfully, my mostly nylon wardrobe means I can avoid it. Small radiators coupled with pets that pull things off them is not a good mix.

This type of drying pod works by circulating warm air inside a tent-like capsule containing a hanging rail.
